Long term mortgage rates have dropped - the Fed cut the interest rate and we're down well below 6% again. You might have to pay points or fees to get those rates, but it's still an opportunity.

Rates are the lowest since January for Mortgages. Part of the deal is the drop in value of gold and oil.

So this is actually an amazing time to get into a house (with a fixed rate mortgage, of course).
